Ministry at Grace Presbyterian

During our time back in the states we have been eager to serve in our local church. However, our home church is going through the call process so apart from a weekly Bible Study there have not been any opportunities to preach or minister on Sunday mornings.

But God has been exceedingly good to us by allowing us to serve at another church just down the road in Sagola. This little country church, Grace Presbyterian, is one we visited with my family back this summer, and their current pastor, Pastor Dave, called me early in January indicating that he was looking for a short term fill-in minister for the month of February during his sabbatical month.

We have been so blessed to have this opportunity to serve our Lord with this small country church. Its been amazing how quickly the folks at this church make you feel welcome and one of their own. One of the best moments was their annual Chili Cook-off. It was so much fun to come together and have the whole church and even community come out to decide if the grand champion of Chili takes home the prize again this year.

Then, just the following week the church held a fund raiser after the service with a church-wide bake sale. It was really something do see tray after tray coming in the door for the bake sale. Everyone was bringing in two or three trays of baked goods!!! After they put everything against the back wall, there were goodies stacked 4 plates high! Once the auction started it lasted for almost 2 hours and no one left empty handed. It was the most fun I’ve ever had at a bake sale!

During our Sundays at Grace I got to sing in the choir and my sermons revolved around the individual’s process of learning to follow the Holy Spirit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this church and we look forward to see all our friends there again once we return back to the states.
