Ministry in Spanish Wells

We have been so blessed over the years to receive an open door invitation to the Methodist Church in Spanish Wells. Almost 4 years ago, I had the privilege of filling in pulpit supply, and ever since then we have been given some of the dearest relationship we’ve ever received in the Bahamas. This current trip back to Spanish Wells was filled with those reunions of seeing our friends and church family again.

Among the many blessings this church has shown us, the most noteworthy one for this particular trip was their graciousness to pay for our plane tickets back to the Bahamas. We have recently left the island of Eleuthera to care for my parents back in Wisconsin, and the ticket prices back and forth to the island are extremely expensive when un-budgeted. We felt like we needed to be back to Windermere in March because it is mid-semester and along with all our classes and responsibilities we had our major fund raiser – Fair Day that we felt we needed to help out with. As it turned out the Methodist Church had opening for preaching throughout the month of March and God did the usual by providing a way by which we could get back to WHS and the church could secure a minister for the month.

Although the preaching schedule is rigorous it is for me such a joy to present God’s word to this congregation. I also so enjoy serving with all those who participate in the service, their choir participation and fellowship afterward are just wonderful signs of a church that loves one another and desires to serve the Lord.

Unfortunately at the very end of our time in Spanish Wells we all caught a terrible 24hr stomach bug; Emily and Micah in particular had a very difficult time with the sickness. But once again the people from the Methodist Church were right there calling and offering medicine and meals.

We thank the Lord for the opportunity to grow our ministry reaching to the Methodist Church, and we praise Him for the very many relationships we’ve been given there. It is our sincerest hope that God will one day lead us back to Spanish Wells to worship with this congregation again in the future.
