Collaboration in the Gospel

One of the greatest blessings in our recent trip to St. Martin didn’t have anything to do with the training at all. It was the time we spent reconnecting with Paul Voss. I would be remiss if I didn’t get recorded in our ministry journal the blessing of seeing God’s faithfulness to preserve our relationship over these past years of distance and diversity in service.

But Paul and Lisa have always meant more to us than just co-workers. One of the often underemphasized blessings in ministry is the way that ministry partners can become closer than friends – almost family. This reality was proven true for us this week as we met Paul at the airport and hugged, and soon felt that after only minutes of reuniting it felt like we had just seen one another yesterday!?!

The kindness of God has woven human hearts to have a need to pursue relationships. And it is His Spirit that brings us into the family of God where we receive a common identity as brothers and sisters. Beyond the classroom and the logistics of travel, greater than the beauty of the islands is the common commitment to partner with brothers for the sake of the gospel. It is the mission of God itself that reveals the blessing behind the partnership, where co-workers become friends, who become brothers.
