Finally, after a little bit of a wait (2 weeks past due date) our little miracle is here. We are proud to present Micah James Flunker, born at 9:16am at a hefty 8 lbs 12oz. and a strapping 20” 3/4.
What an amazing… absolutely amazing… I’m literally stumbling for words to describe what we’ve just experienced. Emily’s doctor suggested that due to Micah being past due, the best option would probably be to have a “C” section for delivery, and Emily bravely went through the procedure with flying colors. The actual surgery itself was over in only about 45 minutes.
Don and Karolyn, Emily’s parents are here with us and they are extremely happy to hold their brand new grandson. Micah is wearing a little cap and he seems to enjoy being swaddled.
Right when he came into the world he started a healthy cry, not screaming, just a good hearty cry. The doctors said he sounded great and they were amazed at the full head of hair. Baby Micah got his shots and medicine and cried the whole time, then as soon as they wrapped him up he got very happy. I even think I saw him smile.
His feet are huge (I’m so proud!!!) and the nurses said that everything looks great. We’re stunned at the miracle of birth, and are so thankful for everyone’s thoughts and prayer for the birth of our first son. Please continue to pray as we make it though the next few hours of recovery, even as I write this Emily is resting, a bit drowsy, but doing well.
We think Micah feels a bit jipped, now that he’s out of the warmth and comfort of mom, but little does he know he’s got lots of friends and family who’ve been waiting to kiss and hug and love him; my guess is that as long as he’s held tight, (like he was in mom) he’s happy.
