10.31.08 – Micah’s First Halloween – By Emily

Today I spent the morning making a candy corn costume for Micah, and this afternoon my friend Alicia and I, along with our three kids, left and headed for the island of Spanish Wells to go Trick-or-Treating.

Micah was soooooo cute in his little outfit!

There’s not a lot of Halloween things to do here on the mainland Eleuthera, so we took a boat to Spanish Wells and our friends drove us around in their golf cart. The island is only about a square mile, but there are a lot of houses.

Not only did we go to houses, but people also give out treats to other golf carts as they pass one another. And babies are refered to as “dollar babies” on Halloween because some people give babies dollars instead of treats they can’t eat yet. Micah got $6 and a lot of food. Most people actually gave chips, cookies, and juice boxes instead of candy, but Micah got a lot of candy too, and even some baby food!

Micah was very good the whole time. He didn’t mind being a candy corn, I think he actually liked it a lot! His costume kept him warm from the cool breeze, and about three quarters through the evening he fell asleep and we stayed on the cart the rest of the time.

I have to say though that this was my favorite part of the evening, just holding my cuddly little baby in my arms while he slept as we drove around. He’s so precious! I just love him!

We got to spent some great time with our friends in Spanish Wells, and I got to meet some new people too. It really was a great day! I have to say that I thought Micah was the cutest candy corn ever!
