7.04.10 – Frisco in Eleuthera

We were sitting in the airport with the Frisco team, and it has been just the best week with them in Eleuthera. This was FBC Frisco’s first time ever to send a team to the island, and it was a fantastic trip.

You could tell that the Frisco team had some healthy relationships before they ever got on the field, which makes for a very good trip experience. And it was the biggest blessing for us because we had relationships with everyone – it was like have having family visit.

Emily loved spending time with Melissa Yates and her little boy Isaac, whom Micah also loved spending time with. Micah finally had a little friend to play with, although its clear that he needs to practice sharing sometimes!

The team came down planning on working construction in the morning and then hosting a Vacation Bible School in the evenings. It was a definitely a full schedule, and we even packed in more towards the end of the week.

The construction project was our ongoing work at the local settlement clinic. The team began their time by trimming rafters and eventually decking the whole roof and tacking down felt paper.

The VBS was fantastic, one of the best I’ve even seen in Eleuthera. We had up to 45 kids on one of the nights, (and that means not enough adults). The team put on games, crafts, Bible lessons and some very memorable skits.

The skits were acting out the various stories from the Bible, and let me tell you, the folks from FBC Frisco can be quite animated! They were hilarious, and the kids loved them!

It was a wonderful visit, it felt like home with them here. We hope to have more teams from FBC Frisco in the future, however we really enjoyed the nature of this small team – it gave us a lot of time with each of them individually.

FBC Frisco is the biggest blessing to us, the team clearly came down to not only work and serve, but to encourage us and support us. We are truly blessed to call them our church.
