3.11.11 – Matt Lynskey and Missions Class

Our very good friends Matt and Sukey Lynskey have came down to the island to visit and invest in the classes by Matt teaching our final course in Rock Sound – Missions.

Matt and Sukey were missionaries in Tanzania for a year, before the birth of their twin girls mandated a trip back to the US and a continued stay to care for their premature conditions. Matt and I have also had deep relationship centering around the Mission of God and the implication for our churches and lives.

Thus, he was a perfect fit for teaching our course #10, Missions. The center of the two weeks was from the Lausanne Covenant: “World Evangelization requires the Whole Church to take the Whole Gospel to the Whole World.”

The class was amazed night after night to have their paradigms shift from understanding missions as something we’re doing for God, to partnering with God in something He is already doing.

Each night you could see the students interacting with the new concepts and hearing their testimonies of “having their eyes opened” to God’s mission for the nations. We’d begin each night with a look inward towards personal transformation to wear the gospel correctly, and then we’d look outward to another people group on the planet to focus our hearts and prayers.

Matt and I have taken many of the same missions class throughout seminary, however this 2 week course that Matt put together was in many way a “highlight reel” of the best teaching from many classes. I whole heartily agree with the students own testimonies, “We saved the best for last.” Thank you to Matt and Sukey for making the challenging trip to invest in God’s work in the lives of our students.
